There is a huge potential for taking advantage of sunlight associated with small photovoltaic installations in an urban context. Using concepts from geographic information systems, environment and photogrammetry, it is possible to create solar maps in order to facilitate this use. These can be used by municipalities or the general public to easily visualize the best places to install photovoltaic panels, and thus easily calculate the electrical power that could be produced, along with the payback times.
